The Problem
After a tier 1 iron ore miner reached out to us to report that the Sandvik / Tamrock DR560 hydraulic cylinder trunnion piston rod (part no CX014799-003) part was failing earlier than expected. Geographe investigated, it was found that the rod was susceptible to fatigue failure in normal operating conditions.
The Solution
By removing the welding joints and replacing them with a one-piece design. We haven’t received and further reported failures from the iron ore miner. The customer who has used our one-piece design cylinder rod, has found the part to have created savings. From no longer requiring additional maintenance and downtime on the DR560 Drill fleet.
