Geographe partnered with an Australian Tier 1 mining customer to address the issue of premature failures in standard OEM oil-filled pins. These pins were experiencing excessive wear, leading to costly downtime. Over a 12-month period, the customer had to replace 20 failed pins. Despite pre-start warm-up procedures, the standard OEM oil-filled Front Frame to Boom pins continued to fail under high loads. To solve this, Geographe developed the Enhanced Performance (EP) Greaseable Pin Assembly (GPA), which replaces oil with grease as the lubricant. The grease system is continuously supplied from the loader’s onboard grease system, offering improved stop-start ability, the ability to purge contaminated lubricant, and eliminating oil leakage failures. With strategically placed lubrication features, the GPA reduces the risk of premature failures.
